BJP windows open into Cong's yard

What an incredible week on Twitter! Right from Twitter's new user interface to the historical Ayodhya verdict followed by frantic calls for maintaining peace andbhaichara to Rajnikanth's new film to the run-up for the CWG opening ceremony, the week had the makings of a Bollywood potboiler.

BJP's address hijacked

In a bizarre incident, the BJP's website URL began redirecting users to the Congress website. The development had web junkies in splits, especially after the BJP got wind of the situation and served a legal notice to the Congress party suspecting it to be their doing. @raggedtag tweeted: "BJP website directed to Congress? Bwahahaha! Yeh jo des hai mera!" BJP continued to be in the Twitter timelines as @gkhamba noted that the party — just like every time it gets into a mess — used the phrase it has mastered by now: "Yeh ek rajneeitik shadyantra hai!"
Chak de! CWG

Not just in Mumbai, but also globally, the Commonwealth Games continued to be one of the most popular trending topics. The tweets ranged from rants about the traffic situation in New Delhi to how it was finally time to honour the fact that India would kick off in style. @Maheshbhupathi observed about the ongoing India-Australia test match at Mohali: "Never seen such poor crowds in India at a test match. Has T20 killed test cricket or is everyone at home getting ready for CWG? :)"

Chitti's still got it

Possibly the most popular tweet this week: "The name of the next Rajnikanth film is Twitter. In that film, he plays 140 characters." There were more such tweets showering praise on the superstar's latest film, Robot (Enthiran), which released in theatres this week and is on its way to becoming the highest grosser of all time. Tweets about the film were largely one-sided, describing the film as a brainless caper, but a mad entertainer. @ammarpatel87 tweeted: "Stats point that the car parking collections for Enthiran are greater than Anjaana Anjaani's box-office collections." Despite multiple films releasing this weekend (Khichdi, Anjaana Anjaani, Benny and Babloo, Going the Distance), it was Chitti's opening at the box-office that hit a home run.
