Day 2 of online admissions: 40 pc candidates submit applications

MUMBAI: By Saturday evening, at least 40 per cent of the students who have passed Class 10 in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region submitted their application forms for Junior college through the online admissions process.

Nearly 2.7 lakh students are eligible for admission to junior college and of these, 42,686 submitted their forms online. Several others submitted their forms offline through the minority quotas.

The second day too, was as uneventful as the first, with no major glitches reported by schools or students.

"We have been working nonstop to ensure a smooth admissions process this time, and hope it will get better each year," said an education department official.

"A job well begun is half done we expect the rest of the admissions to also well." Jamnabai Narsee principal Sudeshna Chatterjee said: "It has all gone well and been uneventful so for."

1,37,106 Approved application forms (Friday and Saturday)

10,402 Incomplete application forms (Friday and Saturday)

42,686 Number of option forms submitted on Saturday

98,012 Total number of option forms submitted as of Saturday evening
