'ISI paid Taliban to kill Indians'

Secret files Documents released by Website Wikileaks substantiate claims

NEW YORK:

India has lonng believed Pakistan to be the pupet master behind a series of attacks on Indian assets inn Afghanistan in recent years. Among the 91,000 secret US documents released by the Website Wikileaks in its 'Afghan War Diary' are reports that substantiate these claims.

They confirm earlier reports that there was intelligence of attacks on the intelligence of attacks on the Indian embassy in Kabul on July 7, 2008 and on other Indian targets. They also say the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) offered the Taliban $15,000 - 30,000 to kill Indian contractors in Afghanistan.

Many of the reports are drawn form the 2004-07 period, when Pakistan Army chief Gen Parvez Ashfaq Kayani ran the ISI. American officials have often praised Kayani for what they call his efforts to purge the military of officers with ties to militants.
The embassy attack, the war logs confirms, was conceived months in advance and excuted at the behest of the ISI.

On November 18, 2007, US intelligence submitted a report that said: "ISI gave order to Sarkateep to establish relationns with some Afghans  and to consulates in Jalalabad, Kabul, Herat, Kandahar and Mazare-Sharif."

License to kill Taliban

The documents confirmed the existence of a US black ops team in the Afgan war, US Task Force 373. The US has attempted to conceal the existence of this unit. The force focuses on either targeted killing of high-value Al Qaeda and Taliban operatives in Afghanistan or capturing them alive. They hunt based on a list of enemies made by US coalition forces, a Joint Prioritized Effects List (JPEL). The targets are assigned serial numbers and number over 2,000. More than 80 JPEL logs were leaked, which establish the force has a record of success, but resulted in civilian casualities.
