Finally, home minister RR Patil has taken his first hesitant steps into social networking with his Facebook profile officially inaugurated by chief minister Ashok Chavan last week. In the corridors of power, it is well known that when it comes to image building nobody can beat Patil.
His simplicity and forthrightness already gives him a huge edge. Now, what has set his cabinet colleagues' tongue wagging is the home minister himself going to write and monitor every single word that appears on the site? His close friends is the NCP are worried as they know Patil is constantly on the move rebuilding the organisation along with the shouldering home department responsibilities. A senior leader leader said, "I am glad he has taken the step ahead of other ministers." But, he added with concern, "I am also going to warn him about the hazards of technology." After all, we all know what happened to twitter savvy Shashi Tharoor. At home we all know what happened to twitter savvy Shashi Tharror. At home we all know that Patil's ill-fated attempt at Hindi post the 26/11 terror strike - bade sheheroon mein chhote hadse (big cities are prone to such incidents) - led to his exit from the home ministry then. His clarifications did little to save his exit unmindful of critics, patil is enjoying his latest Facebook adventure.
