Washington:
Popular social networking site Facebook, which has got its 500 millionth user, wants to celebrate the milestone with a special feature, 'Facebook Stories'.
The website, hugely popular among teenagers, will have a section of user stories about how Facebook has changed their lives, like getting in touch with long-lost friends or finding true love.
The stories will have to be short. They'll be capped at 420 characters, the limit on status updates.
About 200 stories will be chosen from around the world to be showcased on a separate site within Facebook.
In its six - year history, the site has connected old friends and family. It has helped make and break political campaigns and careers and dine a lot more.
Seventy per cent Facebook users are outside the US, and one-quarter of all users are checking in and updating their pages from their cell-phones.
